Nigerian film board approves 66 movies

Abuja – The National Film and Video
Censors Board (NFVCB) has verified and
approved 66 movies for viewing for the
month of February, 2014, a statement
said in Abuja on Tuesday.
The statement issued by the Acting Head,
Corporate Affairs of the board, Mr Caesar
Kagho, said 34 of the movies approved
were in English, 18 in Yoruba, 13 Hausa
and 1 in Ibibio languages respectively.
It said only one "12" category movie
"Ebube" an English language movie, was
approved among the 66 movies.
It said 27 of the movies were classified
for 15 Viewers. (viewers of 15 years of
Age 15)
The movies for "15'' include "A little shift
(English)
"Halwa" (Hausa) ,"Ogomide"(Yoruba),
"Away match" (Ibibio), "Ere" (Yoruba),
"Joy of madness" (English), "Zaman
Aure"(Hausa).
The statement said 38 of the movies
classified for 18 viewers included "Agbebo
(Yoruba), "A Night with
Governor"(English), "Mai
ciki" (Hausa),"Supreme verdict" (English),
"Eaga"(Yoruba) and "ina mazan
suke"(Hausa) among others .
According to the statement, for movies
classified for 15 viewers, consumers are
to be mindful of fetish rituals, imitable
technique, strong language, violence and
sex.
It said for movies classified for 18, the
consumer is to take note of the strong
language, imitable technique rituals and
sex contents in the movies.
According to the statement, other movies
approved include "Strong mission
(English), "Abdulmalik 2" (Hausa), "Adee
Ferani (Yoruba), "Open Actor"(English),
"Taseri"(Yoruba), "Open
Altar"(English),"Together Apart" (English),
"Tasere" (Yoruba), Abban Syama
(Hausa),"Chasing Shadows" (English), the
statement said.
The statement said the movie
classifications ranged from 12 – 18 years.
