Why is Rose Byrne not in X-Men: Days of Future Past?

When it was announced that an X-Men prequel movie was being made, there were a few raised eyebrows with some expecting the film to fall flat on its face. However, X-Men: First Class turned out to be a huge success, so there was no surprise when it was announced that a sequel was going to be made.

With the news that the sequel would be titled X-Men: Days of Future Past and would feature a mixture of the new stars along with the original actors, fans began to get very excited about the movie. Unfortunately though, with so many characters being involved in X-Men: Days of Future Past, it meant that some would have to be sacrificed.

One such character, who appeared in X-Men: First Class but will not be in X-Men: Days of Future Past, is Moira MacTaggert, who was played by Rose Byrne. There was simply not enough room to have the character in the film and it was easy to explain her exclusion. At the end of X-Men: First Class, Charles Xavier wiped her mind, meaning that she has no knowledge of the mutants she met.

Rose Byrne was not the only one from X-Men: First Class to be excluded from X-Men: Days of Future Past, as January Jones as Emma Frost, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee, Jason Flemyng as Azazel and ZoĆ« Kravitz as Angel Salvadore were also left out of the sequel.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will open on May 22 in the UK and May 23 in the US.
