Jeep Grand Cherokee offers 60 safety features

Luxury vehicle distributor, Weststar Associates Limited, has introduced to Nigeria the 2014 Grand Cherokee, a Jeep product built with 60 standard/optional safety and security features.

The firm says the elegant product is another outstanding o ffer from the legendary Jeep to the luxury-conscious 4×4 owners.

The United States government has given the 2014 Grand Cherokee a five-star side crash rating, which is its highest designation, thanks to the safety features.

In a summary description of the 2014 Grand Cherokee, Weststar says, “This resilient beauty simply exudes passion and greatness. Yet, there is nothing simple about its expansive menu of capabilities that have been designed to work together in true harmony to combat harsh weather and master any type of terrain.

Three variants of the new Grand Cherokee being offered are listed as the Laredo, Limited and SRT8.

Safety features

The 60 safety and security features, which have been carefully packaged as standard or optional items of the new Grand Cherokee are expected to give unwavering confidence to the Jeep owner/driver and the occupants of the vehicle.

These features, according to Weststar, are the front park assist; adaptive HID headlamps; forward collision warning with crash mitigation; park view rear back-up camera with new dynamic grid lines.

Others are the driver inflatable knee airbag; electronic stability control; blind spot monitoring; and rear cross path detection. The new steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters offer manual shift and control, it adds.

Engine/ performance

Its standard 3.6-litre V6 engine delivers 285 horsepower.

The vehicle has a new eight-speed Automatic Transmission which glides through gears, enabling quick acceleration and smooth shifting.

The Limited also includes a memory package a 3.6 litre V6 24-Valve VVT engine with a 7,200lb towing capacity.

For the SRT, there is an eight-speed transmission that delivers power from the 6.4-litre HEMI engine via a fully electronic automatic mode or through redesigned steering-wheel paddle controls.

The new package delivers improved acceleration of 100 km per hour in 4.5, with quicker shift speeds.

The Laredo type comes with a 3.6 Pentastar V6 engine and a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

Interior

Inside the new Grand Cherokee are a number of information, entertainment, and communication options carefully arranged and placed at the drivers/occupants’ fingertips.

The manufacturer says the vehicle’s 825-watt, 19-speaker high performance Harman Kardon sound system delivers sound quality that rivals what is in considered best concert seats.

There is also a new Uconnect system that features a massive 8.4 touch screen as well as dial controls for complete access to all functions, including climate and radio settings.

Its Bluetooth connectivity allows for streaming audio and voice commands.

Also included are USB port, SD card reader, DAB radio and premium navigation with 3D graphics.

Laredo:  All its innovative features are presented as standard. Weststar says, “The Laredo version features all the technology and the performance you expect from a superior SUV and that make the Grand Cherokee a world-class traveller.

“The exterior of the New Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is identified by body-colour wing mirrors and door handles, chrome highlighted grille and the new signature tail lamp design.”
