Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, on Wednesday urged the police to ensure that the killers of the Deputy Editor of Saturday Newswatch, Mr. Toyin Obadina, are found and made to face the wrath of the law.

In a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Festus Adedayo, Ajimobi said the killing of the journalist should not be allowed to go the way of similar previous cases.

He said, “The only way the police can convince Nigerians that they are truly on top of the situation is to deploy all the resources at their disposal, both human and material, to ensure that the killers of Obadina are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

“His murder was shocking, painful and unfortunate. Obadina was cut down at the prime of his life when his professional dexterity as a journalist was much needed for the development of the country.”

While describing Obadina as prolific and highly professional in the discharge of his duties as a journalist and editorial member of Daily Newswatch, Ajimobi commiserated with his family, friends, associates as well as the management and staff of Daily Newswatch for his untimely death.

The governor also condoled with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists over the loss of their colleague.
