First DJ in space

Mandla Maseko from Pretoria will be the first DJ and black person from the African continent to mission to space in 2015. He beat countless entrants from 75 countries and became the chosen one for the hour-long sub-orbital trip on the Lynx Mark II spaceship.

The competition held by the AXE Apollo Space Academy and sponsored by Unilever and space tourism firm Space Expedition Corporation (SXC), involved sending in a photograph of oneself jumping from any height. In the future, the 25-year-old plans to study aeronautical engineering and qualify as a space mission specialist.
